What actually releases a fire sprinkler?
Fit bulb, sealing plug and deflector
Hot air warms the bulb until its thermal element releases the plug. Water pressure then drives the spray against the deflector. Each head responds to its local heat.
One 68 °C glass-bulb sprinkler, initial bulb 20 °C, illustrative RTI 50 (m·s)½, K=80 L/(min·√bar). Lumped thermal response excludes conduction correction and pipe pressure loss; not a fire-protection design.
Release the local sprinkler and discharge over 80 L/min.
Release this sprinkler with hot ceiling air.
