Fit the impeller, float switch and check valve
Rising water lifts the float and starts the pump. It remains on until a lower level is reached. The check valve holds the discharge column when the motor stops.
0.1 m² pit (1 L per cm depth); illustrative linear pump curve 60 L/min at zero head, zero at 6 m. Float hysteresis 30/10 cm; a failed check valve returns a 2 L/m discharge-column volume once at each shutdown. Liquid is shown by level, wave and meniscus strokes so immersed hardware remains visible in the cutaway.
Lower the pit below 15 cm without overflow or discharge backflow.
Lower pit water without overflow or backflow.
