Fit the specimen and set conditions before running.
Fluid initially lags a turning canal and bends its cupula. The relative motion relaxes. A weighted otolith membrane continues to shear when a head remains tilted.
Exploded specimens show three orthogonal canal planes beside one enlarged cupula. One canal step response has illustrative 3 s relaxation. Otolith shear is proportional to sin(tilt); it does not resolve gravity from linear acceleration.
After ten seconds, retain a tilt signal while the turn signal has mostly relaxed.
Compare a turn step with a sustained tilt.
